Are you looking to enhance or expand your museum’s online presence, storytelling impact, and revenue? This course focuses on practical methods and best practices for reaching and engaging both existing and new audiences through websites and social media platforms. You'll assess your current digital presence, examine audience expectations and online trends, and set engagement goals. The course culminates in the creation of an online engagement campaign plan for your museum.

 

 

At the conclusion of the course and assignment submission, students will be able to:
1. Understand what different audiences seek in online cultural experiences
2. Match target experiences with the right approaches and online platforms
3. Analyze content for effective reach, engagement and impact

 

Julie McNevin (she/her) has 20 years of experience as a museum educator. Julie is currently on hiatus from museum work to pursue a Master’s of Education degree in Adult Education and Community Development at University of Toronto (OISE). Julie’s path to a career in museums began while working as a Summer Student at Sainte-Marie among the Hurons and Discovery Harbour (Huronia Historical Parks). Following her undergrad, Julie continued working as a museum educator, but played a pivotal role in updating and introducing new technologies and digital services across departments.Outside of her museum roles, Julie runs a small business as an artisan, which includes reaching and engaging customers through her website and social media channels. Julie is excited to be able to bring her experiences with integrating technology and creating audience-centered online experiences to the course.
