Presenter: Benjamin Miller, CLEO/ONN

In this full day working sessions participants will learn the why, when, where, who, what, and how of negotiating funding agreements. Participants will come with a particular funding agreement and leave with the confidence and the plan they need to negotiate terms that work better all involved. This is a working session, in which participants will fill out a specially designed workbook to answer all the questions they can and identify all their gaps in knowledge necessary to go into any conversation with a funder prepared to collaboratively seek solutions to problematic terms. Participants will have the opportunity to practice negotiating skills collaboratively throughout the day as well as ask questions and discuss experiences. Participants are encouraged to bring copies of their funding agreements they hope to improve in the future. It is recommended that participants read the funding agreements they wish to work on ahead of the workshop. While the workbook focuses on transfer payment agreements with the Government of Ontario, the principles learnt apply across a wide range of public and private funding relationships.

This session will take place on Zoom.
