Grounded in theories of volunteer change management, this workshop will explore the practical development of volunteer programs in the museum sector and provide space for timely conversations about the future of these programs. Designed for professionals whose roles interact with volunteers in their organization, together we will examine the issues at stake in a shifting world of volunteerism and philanthropy at large.

In addition to shared discussion, the workshop will include a hands-on practical component, guiding participants through the development of a volunteer program assessment map - a tool that helps organizations identify gaps, clarify roles, align volunteer work with institutional priorities, and plan for sustainable adaptation. Participants will leave with actionable templates, sample policies, and a draft roadmap tailored to their own organization’s needs.
