The Ontario Museum Association is committed to respecting the privacy of individuals and organizations within our membership. The OMA recognizes the need for transparent and diligent privacy & data practices in the collection, use and storage of information regarding members, stakeholders, volunteers, funders, partners and the general public. OMA staff and Board share responsibility for the appropriate management and protection of any personal and/or business information that is provided to us. The OMA’s guidelines on the collection, use and storage of personal and/or business information are as follows:
Collection: The OMA adheres to the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), 2000, (Canada); the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA) 1998, 1990, (Ontario); and the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (MFIPPA) 1991, (Ontario). All information is collected by fair and lawful means and members can inquire about the collection and use of information at any time. The OMA will limit the collection of personal and/or business information to that required for membership services, program delivery or presence on the membership registry.
Use: Personal and/or business information collected may be used for internal reference and functions related to member communications and membership services. Personal and/or business information will not be disclosed for purposes other than those for which it was collected, except with the consent of the individual or organization or as required by law.
Storage: OMA will store personal and/or business information collection for the function of OMA membership services through our membership management system (MMS), Member365. This information is stored on Member365 servers and safeguarded by physical security measures, threat scanning, firewalls and offsite backups to ensure that data is secure. The OMA and Member365 do not store payment information submitted through the OMA member portal, which is stored within an external payment processor. For more information, visit Member365.
OMA memberships are valid for one year from the date of payment. Refunds will not be issued for membership payments.
Partial refunds for OMA event and course registrations, less an administration fee, may be provided if requested in advance of the start date.
By completing purchases with us you agree to have your Credit card and personal information securely stored as part of a payment profile within a 3rd party payment gateway. This securely stored payment profile will allow for easier and faster checkouts.
No credit card information is stored within Member365 or by the OMA and all payment data is accessed by way of a secure API. Under no circumstances do we share credit card or personal details.
Who can access the OMA Membership Portal member portal?
Please note that the OMA Membership Portal member portal is to be used by members of OMA Membership Portal only. Certain workspaces within the member portal will be tailored for and restricted to certain membership types; access to these areas will be determined and approved by OMA Membership Portal staff. The Content that is displayed in your member portal will automatically vary based on your user / membership type.
What can be posted?
To ensure all interactions within the OMA Membership Portal member portal are safe and friendly, OMA Membership Portal staff will oversee the member portal activity and will review, edit, and delete any inappropriate content that has been submitted. This includes abusive or offensive language, spam, malicious files, or other disrespectful contact. To help provide a productive environment, please report any offensive or suspicious activity to OMA Membership Portal staff. Please note that not all user-submitted content is representative of OMA Membership Portal, nor does it necessarily represent the views of OMA Membership Portal, its staff or members.
